It can be caused because of the following factors:

Hormonal changes: This is the main reasons of acne and generally found in teenagers. High levels of hormones cause acne. Our skin secretes chemicals that are intended to protect our skin. In the scenario, when the hormone levels are high this production of chemicals kick in to overdrive (the reason is not known) and causes excess skin oils and also irritation of skin cells and hair follicles. Blocked pores may be the result of over production of oil and as a result many will see an increase of black heads and white heads.

Type of skin:  The skin’s response is the secondary factor to the development of acne. Here the type of skin is very crucial because if your skin is able to deal with the increased skin chemicals and oils which is caused  by hormonal changes most likely outbreaks are less occurring-

Skin Care:  Taking good  care of your skin can prevent skin disorders like acne, black heads, white heads, pimples  etc. try to keep your skin dirt and oil free. The right skin care products can also help in minimize clogged pores found on the surface of the body.

Diet: Consuming fresh foods and maintaining a healthy diet throughout the day is very important. Foods that contain Trans fat and is cholesterol rich products can make your condition worse. Adhering to natural organic fruits and green leafy vegetables is a great weapon to fight against acne.

Medical Intervention: Professional doctors and their drugs are helpful in both the problem like skin responses and hormonal levels. Be aware even if an external intervention will in no way be kind to your body, so try avoiding chemical or prescription acne treatments if you can , but in some cases for very severe acne, prescription medicines might be the only solution.

Causes of Acne

Living with acne can be difficult, so it is helpful to understand some of acne’s major causes. The more you understand about the condition, the better. With increased knowledge, you can take steps to help reduce symptoms, and for other causes, you can stop blaming yourself for things that are out of your control.

Here are the three most direct causes of acne. Below, we’ll discuss situations and factors that can exacerbate these three causes.

1. Plugged hair follicles/pores. Our skin regularly sheds dead cells in microscopic flakes—it’s perfectly natural. But those who suffer from acne are probably experiencing a bit more trouble than the normal shedding of dead skin. Inside the hair follicle, some people lose more cells than others. When those cells build up inside the follicle, the plug that follicle. Dirt can also contribute to plugged follicles. When this happens, skin cells and natural oil cannot escape naturally, and the follicle expands and becomes irritated. These are the blemishes that we often know as acne.

2. Bacteria. It’s also normal to have bacteria on your skin. We all do. But sometimes, this bacteria can get a little out of control, producing enzymes that feed on our skin’s natural oil, causing the oil to actually irritate the skin instead of lubricate it.

These are the three most direct causes of acne, but there are many other things that can cause bacteria, blocked pores, and changes in hormones, as well. For example, stress levels can have an impact on how your hormones behave and even how much oil you produce. (Think about how people often get clammy hands when they are nervous.) While some tests dispute how much of a role stress has in acne, keeping your stress levels low can’t hurt—plus it’s good for you overall, anyway.

Some medications and prescription drugs may change your hormone levels or oil output. Read the labels of anything you have been taking to see if this is a known side-effect, and pay attention to skin changes that coincide with prescription use.

While some believe that diet can contribute to acne, this is not a universally accepted view. From sugars and fats to carbohydrates and chocolate, many foods have been labeled as acne-inducing. The best thing you can do is pay attention to what you eat, and as with stress, stick to a healthy diet because it’s good for you anyway. It couldn’t hurt.

When I was younger I was plagued with bad acne and fought it daily, my grandma my aunt and other relatives all used to tell me , you have to many pimples because of the chocolate and greasy food you eat,  so I would think about it and give up chocolate, and all those other things I loved to eat, that maybe were not so healthy, but  sometimes not eating certain foods seemed to help and some times it did not.

So what actually causes acne?

A bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes resides in the skin and it uses sebum as a formal nutrient for growth but it increases folicle density during puberty, people who are plagued by acne generally have more of Propionibacterium than people without acne. So in short the presence of bacteria starts attracting white blood cells to these follicles.

Other causes of acne begin with obstructed follicles which trap sebum inside the hair follicles so once the sebum is trapped inside the  follicle is when it produces blackheads and pimples.

What I do know now is that there are many products available on the market that can help relieve moderate to severe acne , but besides these products first and most importantly keeping your skin clean during the teen age years and during puberty will help tremendoulsy with outbreaks.

Time is of the esence, as I mentioned before keeping skin clean when you are young sometimes it seems hard or we are juts lazy and dont want to spend the time it takes to cleanse our skin in the morning and at night so for some people a regimented skin care product such as proactiv acnezine or other acne products available might be a better alternative because they include a structured method of use on a daily bassis which if used correctly will help you achive acne free skin with a great looking complexion.
