Acne is one of the most common skin disorders on the face of the planet, many will blame the foods they eat, fast foods, chocolates and McDonald’s french fries, however diet may only play a small part in causing pimples to appear on your skins surface. The reality of all of this is that acne can be caused by other things that are not food related. Things like stress, hormonal imbalances and lack of hygiene. That is why it is important to take some special steps to keep acne under control. This is not to say that acne is going to go away all by itself, many times you really do need to add some kind of acne regimen to prevent outbreaks. Now if you have acne, lets start from the beginning and try to determine what is causing it in the first place. Is it in fact your diet, are you drinking enough water? Many suggest drinking plenty of water, which makes some sense. Drinking water can help clear and cleanse toxins from your body, no its not necessary to drink gallons of water in a day, but three or four glasses should be sufficient.
Diet is another culprit that many blame, there is a reason for the saying, we are what we eat, if we ingest junk we excrete junk, so yes the food we eat whether we like it or not in some way causes acne, maybe not initially because of the grease or salt, but our body does process what what we eat in mysterious ways, including filtering from the body what it does not like through sweat which can clog skin pores. Extra grease in our diet can slow down our metabolism, fast food is not really healthy and does not really contribute good nutrients to our body. If we do eat healthy which means real food, fresh meats, fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables, this can contribute positive nutrients to your body and give it what it needs to keep everything in check. Every part of our body and organs contributes to the bodies well being such as thyroid glands, well functioning kidneys and a sound and healthy heart which circulates the blood which also eliminates toxins.
Exercise is another important factor and you are probably saying what does exercise have to do with acne, well if you have hormonal imbalances and stress in your life, this can trigger your body to over produce oil or sebum causing pores to clog, so any kind of cardiovascular exercise is good. Going for a 45 minute walk three or four times a week or even jogging, weight lifting anything that clears the mind. The bottom line is most people will not complain about sitting in front of a TV for 45 minutes, so 45 minutes of exercise in a day is not to much to ask, or is it ? So what do you do when you do breakout with pimples or blackheads? The first question to ask is how severe is your acne. Lets start with hygiene, keeping your face clean is important. Oily skin and dirt is the main culprit in producing acne. The first thing to try, is using some kind of astringent to clean your skin such as witch hazel or sea breeze. The second thing to do is to begin washing your face with a mild hypoallergenic soap in the evening, use an astringent in the morning when you get up before showering, and once again before you go to bed. Keeping your skins pores clean is important. If after a week or so your acne remains the same, only then you will want to consider something more specific such as a complete acne regimen such as Clearpores or Exposed skin care to treat more severe outbreaks. |
