This form of therapy may not be right for all the various types of acne scarring, and you need to discuss the matter with a dermatologist or a surgeon, before you contemplate this type of treatment.The two most frequently used types of laser are the YAG or a carbon dioxide laser. YAG, also referred to as the ebium laser is capable of targeting specific areas of the skin, since it can emit light at specific wavelengths. As it pierces through the skin, the skin in turn absorbs the light. The carbon dioxide laser, in this case would throw intermittent bursts of light which is made up of intense energy. It works on one layer of the skin at a time, and gradually, new skin replaces the skin layer removed. Soon, a smooth and tight skin is formed in the damaged area.
 Laser treatments have been recognized as one of the most effective ways to remove acne scars as well as in the prevention of future scars as well. However, a detailed dialog is necessary between the patient and the doctor to rule out any possibility of the treatment getting ineffective. For instance, if you have allergies or taking any other medication for your existing illnesses, you need to inform the doctor accordingly. The doctor would then be the best judge to assess whether your acne scars would benefit by laser therapy, or it can be handled by other forms of treatment.
Acne scars can indeed by embarrassing, but the good news that today there are several ways these ugly marks can be removed, and laser therapy is just another effective option that you have.
