One of the biggest problems with the ordinary face cleansing soaps is that though it is mild, it does nothing to remove excess oil – on the contrary, it increases the oiliness of the skin. The trick here is to use a particular kind of soap which prevents excessive oil production. Salicylic acid is one ingredient that can do this job perfectly well for you. This chemical, not only prevents oil production, but also scrubs off dead skin which is responsible for acne formation. While daily use of salicylic acid is recommended, you could start using it at least 2 to 4 times a week to start with. - · Using a gentle facial scrub makes sense as the exfoliating action of a scrub removes the dead skin cells and keeps the skin pores open. This step in prevention is also helpful for preventing blackheads. Use a mild face scrub at least 3 times in a week.
- · Using a 5% benzoyl peroxide solution not only prevents acne attacks but also helps in the removal of past acne scars. If you use a combination of benzoyl peroxide with salicylic acid, you could expect miraculous results in the prevention of acne.
- · It is a myth that if you are prone to acne, you should not use any skin moisturizer. This is definitely not true. Remember most skin cleansers leave the skin too dry. In fact it helps in attracting the harmful UV rays too. So you need to use cleansers which not only moisturize the skin but give you protection from the sun as well.
- · Acne prevention is not complete unless you change the foods you eat. Junk food is completely out and a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables and lean meat is in. throw out sweetened foods and avoid drinking too much caffeine products. Do mild to moderate exercise every day and start taking multivitamin pills to replenish the nutrient content in your body.
Acne might seem inevitable for many, but if you take the steps mentioned above, you can actually prevent from attacking you.
